This is an assorted collection of stories I've been working on for the past two years. Some of them were quick writing exercises which developed into full fledged stories (Seagull). Others came as responses to experiences I had (Bullhorn, The Makeup). While all the stories are fictional, the story Forgiven is based on actual events in Concord, NC.
Topics range from religious zealotry, futuristic disaster, simple love, forgiveness, female genital mutilation, and marriage. My hope is that you will be challenged and entertained. My husband once told me, after I described a story, that my stories were very depressing. Then he read them. I do write about sad situations, but that is primarily because the light shines most brightly in the darkness.
